Rural football talent shines at Grameen Premier League in Patamda

Jamshedpur, Sept 14: The Grameen Premier League (GPL) football tournament, organized by the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West, concluded with much enthusiasm at the Chharidungri School Playground, Pagda, Patamda. The two-day tournament aimed to showcase the hidden sporting talent of Jharkhand’s villages and provide recognition to rural players.

The event was inaugurated by Rtn. Sanjeev Thakur, Past District Governor of Rotary District 3250, in the presence of local villagers, players, and Rotarians.

In memory of his father, Rotary Club President Ashok Jha introduced the Sri M. N. Jha Memorial Rolling Trophy, which was awarded to the winning teams in both the Boys’ and Girls’ categories. Winners also received replica trophies as a keepsake, while the runner-up teams were honored with trophies.

The tournament also recognized individual brilliance. In both categories, special awards were given for Best Goalkeeper, Best Defender, Best Runner, and other performances. A total of 10 outstanding players received these honors, highlighting the depth of talent in rural areas.

The event not only encouraged young footballers but also emphasized Rotary’s commitment to promoting sports and nurturing rural talent.
