Jamshedpur, Sept. 18 : In a broad day light incident, four bike-borne criminals looted Rs 85,000 from a 35-year-old man after assaulting him near Jail Chowk under Sakchi police station area on Sunday. The victim, Ramesh Kumar Verma, who is a resident of Mango, has been admitted at the MGM Medical College Hospital for the treatment.
According to information Ramesh works in a Sakchi-based homeopathy stores and was returning to the stores from a relative’s house on Dhalbhum Road in Sakchi as he fell prey to the looters’ gang.
According to a relative, Ramesh had on Saturday night stayed at his relative’s house instead of going back to his house in Mango as he was carrying so much money. The relative said after assaulting in his abdomen and face, the four criminals snatched Rs 85,000 from him and fled.
” We are in state of shock and don�t know who are involved in the crime. Ramesh was so much injured that he could not even cry for help and kept on lying on the road side until some passers-by came to his rescue. But by that time, the bike-borne criminals had already fled from the scene. The passers-by subsequently arranged the victim to go to the MGM Medical College Hospital,” said the relative. OC, Sakchi, Mohan Kumar Sharma confirmed about a complaint of loot after assault on a 35-year-old man near Jail Chowk.
“We have taken statement of Ramesh who claimed to have lost Rs 85,000 after being assaulted by a gang of four bike-borne criminals. The matter is being investigated,” said Sharma.
“There has been a spurt in petty crimes in the city. We have been successful in arresting quite a few thieves involved in the reported cases but I think there is a need to ensure proper night watch. We are planning to increase the movement of mobile police and vigil,” noted a police official. He went on to add that maximum cases of thefts have been reported from Bistupur, Sakchi and Golmuri areas this year. The police would increase vigil in these areas.
