Chaibasa, October 18: At Tata Steel, sports is a way of life. Tata Steel is comitted to promotion of sports at national and international levels thereby creating and encouraging wellness of stakeholders.
This year, Tata Steel is going to conduct Run-a-thon at Noamundi on November 17. This is the fifth edition of Run-a-thon by Tata Steel in its Noamundi Iron Mine.
The event not only targets the local population but also attracts runners from across the nation. Participants demonstrate their commitment for a healthy and green future.
A press conference in this regard was organised at Chaibasa on Friday. Atul Kumar Bhatnagar, General Manager (OMQ), D Vijayendra, Chief, Noamundi Iron Mine, Rajesh Rajan, Head Corporate Communications, Raw Materials and other senior executives of Tata Steel were also present on the occasion.
A T-shirt designed for runners was also unveiled on this occasion.
The event will be held on November 17, 2024 (Sunday) at Sports Complex, Noamundi for categories; 10 K and 7 K run for men and women (15 years and above), 5 K run for boys and girls under the age of 16 years and 2 K run for Persons with special abilities. The total prize money to be won in various categories is Rs 5, 67, 000/- (Rupees Five Lakh Sixty-Seven Thousand).
Towards it’s commitment for nature, Tata Steel will plant a sapling for each participant. As many as 5000 runners from across the country are expected to participate in the event.
Online registrations for the event will begin from October 18 and will close on November 7. For online registration, participants can log on to http://www.tatasteelruns.com. Offline registrations can also be done at Sports Complex Noamundi from October 21 to November 5, between 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM except Saturday and Sunday.
Encouragement and support for sports at Tata Steel has been continuing since a century and is part of its culture. Tata Steel has been one of the foremost corporate promoters of Indian sports – having built academies for football, archery, athletics, hockey, adventure and sport climbing.
Tata Steel has over the years championed the cause of fitness through several Run properties like Jamshedpur Run-a-thon, Tata Steel Kolkata 25K Run, Bhubaneswar Half Marathon and Joda Run-a-thon across its operating locations to engage with the community through Sports. The other runs planned this year are runs at Meramandali and Ranchi for which the announcements will be made soon.
