Seraikela, Aug 28: Seraikela-Kharsawan police detained one Prem Kumar, state general secretary of Aam Aadmi Party and a resident of Adityapur, at the local civil court with cash worth Rs 21 lakh. Income Tax authorities are questioning Kumar regarding the source and purpose of carrying such a huge amount of money.
Sources said Kumar was caught by police officials during security check when he was about to enter the court premises. Kumar was accompanied by his son. During frisking, cops found bundles of currency notes in his bag. They soon informed Avinash Kumar, officer in-charge of Sadar PS, who informed Income Tax authorities.
A team led by assistant director Investigation, Income Tax Department, Rajeev Pandey, reached Seraikela PS and began a probe into the recovery of cash.
