Hazaribag, Sept. 10: Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said his government was committed to eradicate poverty from Jharkhand and develop the state.
Speaking about development plans, Das said as many as 30 lakh houses will be connected with power supply in next 3 years. He made the announcement while addressing the conference of women self help groups (SHGs) at Curzon Ground, Hazaribag. He said the government will spend Rs 2,000 crore on formation of 3 lakh self help groups of women to make them self reliant.
Presently around 50,000 self help groups are functioning in the state. Self help groups run by women are doing good work in eradicating poverty, which is top on government priority.
The government intends to strengthen them.
On the demand of self help groups, the CM assured that all the primary schools will be equipped with computer sets by the next year.
He said that through this program, the women have made us realize their power. Referring to the self help groups run by physically challenged women, he said that Rs 1 lakh will be given to each such group.
On demands concerning the SHGs, the CM said that newly constructed panchayat buildings will be made available for meeting of SHGs and panchayat bodies. By December, 4404 panchayat buildings will be constructed in the state. All panchayats will be connected with Internet by December 2017.
The CM also assured to provide maternity ambulance to self help groups through bank loan on demand. ‘The groups will be able to repay the loan by giving the vehicle on rent,’ he added.
On being requested to connect women SHGs with drip irrigation, the CM directed the agriculture director to find out the ground reality and act accordingly. He said that Rs 100 crore provisioned for lift irrigation will be spent through self help groups. He said that for irrigation, diesel pumps and solar pumps will be arranged by the government.
Addressing the SHGs, the CM said that women of Gujarat have made their state famous all over the world through Amul dairy products and Lijjat papad.
He said that the government is providing solar pumps on 90 per cent subsidy. Two cows have been given to 50 thousand poor women of the state. Bank loan and subsidy are being provided to women and unemployed youths. The produced milk will be purchased by Medha dairy. Digital locker facility will be started in one month in Hazaribagh where women can keep their documents safe.
The CM said said that funds collected under CSR will be expensed in developing the villages. The government also wants to provide pipe line water to the villages.
He said that the Union government has announced to give 30% of mining revenue which will entirely be used to supply pipeline water in the concerned districts. He appealed the people to refrain from Chinese things and boost up indigenous village made things. He laid stress on competition among self help groups and blocks.
Referring to Olympic medalists P. V. Sandhu, Sakshi Mallick and Deepa Karmakar and paying tribute to women power, the CM said that women have made the nation proud of them. He appealed the women to make people aware of feticide and wage a crusade against it.
Following the Prime Minister’s ‘Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao’ slogan, the state government is working on ‘Pahle Padhai, Phir Vidaai.’ He said that the girls of the state will be helped by the government in their studies. If they face any problem, they should dial the phone number 181.
He said that all political parties should work together for the development of the state. The role of opposition should be creative. Instead of pitying poverty, one should fix a target and strive for it. He said that the government is not going to acquire anyone’s land.
