Jamshedpur, Sept. 24: His adventures are over now. Like a human being that retires post long service in Armed or Police force, a10-year-old Doberman species tracker dog Shakti posted as DySP was given due farewell at Railway Protection Force Headquarter at Jamshedpur couple of days back after a dedicated service of a decade to the state. Later Shakti was handed over to Jharkhand Animal Welfare Society (JAWS) for further adoption.

Talking to the media post taking the custody of the dog, Deputy Secretary (Projects) Utkarsh Kashyap said that in the past the retired dogs were culminated by the authorities as per the norms if it was not purchased through auction. Taking a serious note, the JAWS President Dr Arun Kumar Jha intervened and wrote to the national headquarter in 2009 to change the practice. On which the Railway Protection Force amended their policy of auctioning their retired dogs�at a minimum price of Rs 150 � a paltry sum considering its worth to the force, to make their adoption smooth through the local animal welfare associations.�
Shakti is the third dog of Railway Protection Force getting adopted through JAWS. Earlier two other sniffer dogs Nidhi and Diana were adopted through us, said JAWS president Dr. Arun Kumar Jha. Shakti is being adopted by a dog lover Dhritiman Das of Bagun Nagar, Baridih.
From the record of Railway Protection Force, Shakti has won many laurels in his career. Born on 2010, ten year old healthy Doberman has solved many theft cases, murder mysteries involved in a rape case of a minor girl child and so on.
