Jamshedpur, Dec 19: Supporters of state health minister and Jamshedpur West MLA, Banna Gupta gave a rousing welcome on his arrival in city on Saturday for the announcement made by the government to provide Rs 1 lakh to relatives of those killed in road mishap.
The welcome began at Dimna Roundabout in Mango and continued till his residence at Kadma with supporters garlanding him and weighing him with laddoos at different points along the route apart from raising slogans.
“Banna Gupta ji also holds the disaster management portfolio and it was at his instigation that chief minister Hemant Soren gave the nod to the notification for giving Rs 1 lakh compensation to the relatives of those killed in road mishap. This has happened for the first time in Jharkhand,” said an enthusiastic Congress party worker and minister’s supporter at Kadma.
The minister seemed to enjoy the rousing welcome and made a point to stop at some temples to offer worship.
Later speaking to media at the East Singhbhum district Congress headquarter in Tilak Pushtakalaya, Bistupur, Banna Gupta said that the relatives of the deceased in road mishap would be getting the amount in three days.
“I was deeply saddened to hear the statement of daughter of a person who had died in a road mishap at Mango about how she would continue her studies as her father died in a road mishap. I was determined to do something in this regard and I am happy that the government has taken the decision. The payment of the amount of Rs 1 lakh would be given to the relatives within three days of claims given by the relatives after the mishap,” said Banna Gupta.
Banna Gupta said that he would not forget the love and affection showered on him by the local masses.
