IG convenes meeting, focus on gang war and drugs peddlers in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Dec. 19: Concerned over the rising crime graph, the State Police have decided to strengthen its mechanism for controlling crime by focusing on gang war and drug peddlers.

Zonal IG Naveen Kumar Singh, who is in city to review law and order situation in the district said that they will ensure that steps are taken controlling gang war. The meeting was attended by SSP M Tamil Vanan.  

“Our department is working to strengthen its mechanism. The police administration is focused on controlling such cases,” noted Singh. He informed that they are also framing strategy to curb ATM frauds in association with bank authorities.

Sources informed that police officials are being imparted training on seizure and collection of digital evidence, investigation in social networking sites, ATM and credit card fraud.

With the city going hi-tech, cybercrime cases are also on the rise. The crime has shot up this year, going by the increasing number of petitions and complaints that the police are receiving.

Sources in the city police said complaints of hacking of email accounts and complaints of people falling prey to phishing mails or becoming a victim of other online frauds have been reported.

Naveen Kumar Singh has been SP, SSP and Kolhan DIG. Familiar with the city’s criminal activity on Saturday, a salute was given by the department on the arrival of IG Naveen Kumar Singh at Jamshedpur Police Headquarters. In these three days, he will inspect every police station in the city.

IG Naveen Kumar is visiting the police stations of the city at a time when frequent firing incidents are happening. Sujay was killed in Adityapur, adjoining the city, while in Azadnagar, Mango, the incident of firing on the youth was carried out
