Rotary Steel City opens Adult Literacy Class

Jamshedpur, Sept. 12: Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City organised Adult Literacy Program at Jhulkuli Village on Wednesday.

President of Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City Simran Saggu inaugurated the programme and along with Sushma Chaturvedi, Rotary Spouse Manju Moonka visited the village.

The club members spoke to the villagers about the importance of being literate and how it would be helpful to them in different spheres of their life.

The members also motivated them to be regular with their classes and announced a ‘saree’ as an award for the best student.

Men were also seen interested in taking classes. The Rotarians of Steel City encouraged them to do so. About 30 women and men will begin the first batch from September 12.

Some elderly ladies seemed equally keen at the prospect of becoming literate as their younger friends. Learning kits comprising of a bag, a book, notebook, pencil box with pencils, sharpeners and erasers were distributed to all. Teacher Purnima Mandal has consented to conduct the classes systematically by maintaining attendance register and conducting examinations to keep them focused.
