Jamshedpur, Sep 23: Plastic bags are a major contributor to environmental pollution. Therefore, to reduce pollution, boycott of plastic bags is need of the hour.
As part of “No to Plastic” campaign organized by Tatanagar Railways and Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West in station premises under the leadership of President Rajesh Kumar, Secretary Neeta Agrawal along with the members of the club and railway officials made the people aware against ill-effects of plastic. Railway officials plan to stop use of plastic in the premises of Tatanagar Railway Station. On the occasion club members and railway officials urged the passengers to desist from using plastic.
On the occasion passengers who were not using plastic were greeted with flowers, and jute bags were distributed among the passengers who carried plastic bags.
Shops at Railway Station premises were also requested to cooperate in making the campaign a major success.
Past Club President Rotarian Anjani Nidhi, Rotarians Achinto Banerjee, Anupama Sehgal, Sapna Talwar, Naina Kumar, Nibha Mishra, Vivek Singh along with Snehlata Harlalka and other members appealed the passengers not to use plastic.
Tatanagar Station Director HK Balmuchu, CCI Santosh Prasad, NK Jha, Arpita Maity, Commercial Deputy Superintendent Sunil Kumar Singh, Tatanagar Catering Inspector Ramesh Kumar were also present.
