Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West donates cancer screening van to MTMH

Jamshedpur, Dec 8: The Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West (RCJW) has handed over a state-of-the-art cancer screening van to Meherbai Tata Memorial Hospital (MTMH), aiming to strengthen early detection of cancer, especially in rural areas.

The handover ceremony was held at MTMH with Immediate Past District Governor (District 3250) Rotarian Bipin Chachan as the chief guest. He formally handed over the vehicle to the MTMH Director on behalf of the club.
The specialized mobile unit has been procured under the RCJW Global Grant Project with support from the Rotary Foundation and RSB Foundation. The van is equipped with advanced screening facilities, including a mammography unit, oral scan device, and colposcope. With these features, it will help detect oral, breast, and cervical cancers among people who do not have access to regular medical services.

MTMH doctors, nurses, and radiographers will carry out the screenings inside the van. Awareness drives and coordination during health camps will be undertaken by the Rotary Club, supported by Tata Steel Foundation, RSB Foundation and other corporate CSR partners.
The project was launched under the leadership of Immediate Past President Rotarian Dr. Amit Mukherjee and completed successfully under the current President Rotarian Ashok Kumar Jha.
