Tinplate Gurdwara Undergoing Grand Transformation

New Diwan Hall and Langar Facility to Redefine Complex

Jamshedpur: A major transformation is underway at the revered Tinplate Gurdwara Sahib, with reconstruction work progressing swiftly to provide enhanced facilities and a spiritually enriching environment for devotees. Once complete, the Guru Granth Sahib will reside in a newly constructed, state-of-the-art Diwan Hall.

The redevelopment project blends modern planning with deep devotion to improve convenience for the Sangat while preserving the Gurdwara’s sanctity. Gurcharan Singh Billa, General Secretary of the CGPC and Executive President of the Gurdwara, noted that continuous Sewa during the 2023–2026 tenure—led by Surjit Singh Khushipur—drives this initiative forward with strong congregational support.

The upgraded complex features a spacious new Diwan Hall designed to harness natural sunlight, which reduces electricity consumption while enhancing the spiritual atmosphere. Additionally, a modern Langar Hall with a seating capacity of 400 will ensure greater comfort during community meals. A new Nishan Sahib, rising nearly 50 feet high, will add to the grandeur of the premises. The management is also incorporating central air conditioning, elevator access, and special arrangements for elderly devotees to ensure inclusivity.

Expanding its footprint, the Gurdwara management acquired an adjacent 20×40-foot plot for approximately ₹36–37 lakh. Plans for this area include a multipurpose facility with halls for Shagun ceremonies and family functions, alongside modern, “five-star” standard restrooms.

Development efforts also extend to the nearby Tinplate Khalsa School. Renovation work worth ₹60–70 lakh, funded by government and corporate partners, has upgraded sanitation facilities and reconstructed the main entrance to improve the learning environment.

Tinplate Gurdwara Sahib is undergoing a massive transformation

Officials expect the entire reconstruction project to reach completion within 12 to 18 months. Future plans include installing a solar power system on the roof to align the complex with sustainable practices. Prominent community members, including Balwant Singh Sheron, Jaspal Singh Ghanike, and Manjit Singh Khalsa, remain actively involved in overseeing this landmark initiative.
