Jamshedpur: The Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Midtown, in collaboration with RAC Jamshedpur Green City, organized a one-day program titled “The Way Ahead: Making the Right Moves in Careers & Social Behaviour” for intermediate students of Ghatshila College. The event featured insightful and interactive sessions aimed at guiding students in their career choices and raising awareness about social and psychological well-being.
The program included two key sessions—”Career Counseling” by Niraj Kumar and “Good Touch, Bad Touch: Understanding Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual Aspects” by Consultant Psychologist Preeti Saini.
During her session, Preeti Saini discussed the psychological and social impact of inappropriate physical interactions among teenagers, highlighting how young individuals can unknowingly become perpetrators of harmful behavior. She explained the long-term effects of such actions, including guilt, trauma, and emotional distress for both victims and offenders. Citing real-life case studies, she emphasized the importance of self-protection, recognizing grooming tactics, and supporting those in need. The session concluded with a therapeutic group activity, which not only reinforced learning but also helped identify students in need of further counseling.
Following this, career counselor Niraj Kumar guided students on how to make informed career choices based on their interests, personality, and aptitude. He stressed that career success is not limited by academic backgrounds and that students can enter various fields with the right skills and passion. His interactive session featured a Q&A segment, where he addressed individual career concerns, offering personalized guidance on different career pathways. Some students also engaged in one-on-one counseling to seek further clarity on their professional aspirations.
The program was well-received, with enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and guests. The event was hosted by Dr. Sandip Chandra, Examination Controller of Ghatshila College, and was attended by Milanpreet Kaur, Nirmal Kumar, Kajal Singh, along with professors, staff, and other officials of the college.
