Jamshedpur, Oct 20: In a significant step towards women empowerment, the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City recently donated six sewing machines, sanctioned as a district grant for the year 2022-23.
The generous contribution is aimed at providing self-reliance to deserving individuals and fostering a spirit of independence within the community.
Expressing gratitude for the donation, the Rotary Club acknowledged the role played by Sanjeev Thakur in making this initiative possible. The six sewing machines were distributed to three females from Chakulia division and as many from Bahragoda division.
The recipients from Chakulia division include Deepali from Godpada, Nikita Das from Jamua Panchayat Harmon, and Nasima Parveen from Muslim Basti. From Bahragoda division, the beneficiaries are Putul Mandal from Rajlabandh Panchayat Patbeda, Seuli Nayak, and Binapani Bera from Khandamauda.
All these women had undergone sewing training, demonstrating their commitment to skill development. However, their financial constraints hindered them from acquiring sewing machines, a crucial tool for turning their skills into a sustainable livelihood.
The identification of these deserving beneficiaries was facilitated by the efforts of BJP leader politician Kunal Sarangi and Amish Mehta. Sarangi handed over the sewing machines.
