Jamshedpur, Jan. 11: Roshni, an NGO working for the promotion of Eye Donation and subsequent transplantation of corneas to corneally blind persons for restoration of eye sight, got another donation from late Chittaranjan Chatterjee, who died due to cardiac arrest at Tata Main Hospital.
Chatterjee was 86 years old. His son Amit Chattopadhyay showed keen interest in donating the eyes of his father to the treating doctors and nurses of Tata Main Hospital, who immediately contacted Roshni president Tarulata Gandhi.
Amit Chattopadhyay belongs to the Prayas, a Socio Cultural Organization in Jamshedpur.
Though he had not pledged his eyes but after the consent of the family members and counseling by the Roshni team, Dr Ajay Kumar of Tata Main Hospital with the help of Bhagwat, Technician harvested both the corneas in the presence of family member and Tarulata Gandhi and Sita Joshi of Roshni.
Rajnish Kumar, honorary secretary, Roshni, said, �We salute the spirit of Chatterjee family residing in Ashtha Santosh Apartment in Kadma for their noble gesture will help restoration of sight of two corneally blind people in the beginning of the New Year.�
