Rose Garden with over 1,500 plants opens in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, December 21: A sprawling 6,000 square meter Rose Garden featuring over 1,500 rose plants was inaugurated near Sir Dorabjee Park by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President of Corporate Services, Tata Steel. The garden showcases five prominent groups of roses: Hybrid Tea, Floribunda, Grandiflora, Miniatures, and Polyanthas, making it a delightful addition to the city’s green spaces.

Speaking at the event, Chaudhary highlighted the transformation of the site, previously used as parking for ISL matches and prone to misuse, into a serene garden. “The Rose Garden is part of Sir Dorabjee Park and has been developed with the support of the Horticultural Society of Jamshedpur (HSJ) and Tata Steel UISL,” he said, adding that the HSJ will maintain the garden.

Rituraj Sinha, Managing Director of Tata Steel UISL, announced that the garden will be open to the public daily from 4 pm to 7 pm. BK Maity, Vice President of the Horticultural Society, expressed pride in the team’s efforts, noting that the garden spans 1.5 acres and represents months of dedicated work.

The ceremony was attended by Ruchi Narendran, senior leaders from Tata Steel and Tata Steel UISL, and members of HSJ.

The Rose Garden is envisioned as a vibrant addition to Jamshedpur’s landscape, offering a blend of natural beauty and tranquility. Its meticulously curated collection of roses provides a colorful and aromatic retreat, further reinforcing the city’s reputation as a hub for greenery and urban biodiversity.
