Role of aerodynamics in defence discussed at BIT Mesra Ranchi

Ranchi, Aug 25: The two-day review meeting of the Aerodynamics Panel, Aeronautical Research and Development Board (AR&DB), DRDO, commenced on Monday at Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra. The event was hosted by the Department of Space Engineering and Rocketry. Head of Department and Institute Coordinator, Dr. Priyank Kumar, welcomed all panel members at the inaugural session.

Panel Chairman and Distinguished Scientist, Dr. G. Balu, highlighted the crucial role of aerodynamics in defence technology and emphasized the need for integration with other disciplines. BIT Mesra Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Indranil Manna, stressed that “interdisciplinary collaboration is the need of the hour” and urged researchers to accelerate their work in alignment with national defence priorities.

AR&DB Secretary, Dr. S. K. Pandey, presented the board’s vision, outlining key research areas and informing participants about funding opportunities available to academia and research institutions. On this occasion, a physics book authored by Dr. B. D. Dwari was also released.

The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks from Registrar Dr. Sudip Das. Over the next two days, the panel will review ongoing projects and set directions for future research in the field of aerodynamics.
