Jamshedpur: Just like the unbelievable robbery sequences we see in films, unidentified miscreants took away cash worth Rs 50,000 and jewellery worth around Rs 7 lakh after taking hostage the house owner and retired bank employee SujanDutta. The incident took place at a flat in Shivam Apartment under Sonari police station this evening.
According to Sonari police station OC, Anuj Kumar, two youths and a girl rang the calling bell and when the door was opened they informed that they have been sent for house maintenance work. Watching a girl standing the owner agreed to open the door. But when the girl said she was asked to come for household chores the owner refused to entertain them and tried to close the door.
The robbers pushed him back and tied him at the point of gun and took away cash and jewellery kept in the almirah and left the flat. It was only when the wife of the victim GauriDutta, an employee of Bank of India, Bistupur branch returned in the evening to find the doors of the flat opened and his husband tied.
Sonari police have taken footage of the CCTV cameras installed at the complex and began a probe in this regard.
Soon after the incident took place when SSP Anoop Mathew and City SP PrashantAnand rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
“The probe is on. We will pick up two-three men suspected to be involved in the robbery. So far no concrete clue has been established, but we are hopeful that the gang will be busted soon,” said an official.
