Road safety committee meeting held in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Oct 21: East Singhbhum deputy development commissioner Parmeshwar Bhagat chaired a meeting of the district traffic and road safety committee at district collectorate on Thursday. 


The meeting discussed on cases of hit and run since January and an appeal was made to submit an application to the district transport office regarding the provision of compensation to be received by the government from the victim’s family. In order to reduce road accidents in Bodam, Dumaria, Burmine, Barsol etc., directions were given to Road Construction Department and TSUIS (formerly Jusco) to put up boards of ‘accident-prone area’ and ‘speed limits’.

The Deputy Development Commissioner directed that those found over speeding, driving without helmet, without seat belt and triple riding should be punished during checking campaign in the city. Those vehicles in which the silencer has been modified and the firing kit has been installed, strict action and fine has been directed against the drivers concerned. In the vicinity of Jubilee Park and Sakchi roundabout, legal action was also taken to crack down on illegal parking and those who encroach on the road and set up carts.


It was informed by the NHAI representative that vehicles are parked illegally on the NH in Dhalbhumgarh police station area and Baharagora, due to which there is a possibility of road accident and the deputy development commissioner directing for levying fines on such violators.
