Road safety awareness campaign among Jamshedpur youth

Jamshedpur: In accordance with the directives issued by District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner  Ananya Mittal, a comprehensive road safety awareness campaign was launched in the urban area to educate the youth on the importance of complying with traffic rules. The campaign, aimed specifically at young drivers, saw active participation from Traffic DSP, MVI, and members of the Road Safety Committee.

The primary objective of the campaign was to instill a sense of responsibility and awareness about road safety among the youth. With the increasing number of road accidents involving young drivers, the District Magistrate’s office deemed it essential to conduct an extensive outreach program focusing on the critical aspects of road safety.

During the campaign, several key messages were conveyed to the youth. Two-wheeler drivers and their co-passengers were educated on the importance of wearing helmets, while four-wheeler drivers were urged to wear seat belts at all times. The campaign highlighted the life-saving potential of these simple measures, emphasizing the need for regular use to protect oneself and one’s family.

The youth were also provided with detailed information on the rules and methods of obtaining a driving license. It was stressed that driving without a license before the age of 18 is illegal and dangerous. Additionally, the dangers of using mobile phones while driving were highlighted, along with the importance of aiding injured persons and giving way to emergency vehicles.

The campaign emphasized strict compliance with traffic signals and signs. Participants were informed about the necessity of installing high-security number plates on vehicles. The Road Safety members reiterated the significance of following all traffic rules to ensure not just individual safety but also the safety of others on the road.

The awareness campaign received a positive response from the youth, with many expressing their commitment to adhering to the traffic rules discussed. The authorities believe that such campaigns are crucial in reducing road accidents and fostering a culture of safety and responsibility among young drivers.

The District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner  Ananya Mittal stated, “Road safety is a critical issue that requires our immediate attention. By educating our youth and encouraging them to follow traffic rules, we can significantly reduce the number of accidents and save lives. We will continue to organize such campaigns regularly to ensure that the message of road safety reaches every corner of our district.”

The Road Safety Committee, in collaboration with the local police and traffic department, plans to conduct similar awareness programs in schools and colleges across the district. The goal is to create a well-informed and responsible generation of drivers who prioritize safety and compliance with traffic regulations.

The road safety awareness campaign, initiated by the District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner  Ananya Mittal, marks a significant step towards improving road safety in the urban area.
