Recovery rate of patients at TMH improves to 75 per cent
Jamshedpur, Aug 29: Rise in COVID-19 cases is expected to stabilize in the next 10 days. The city is witnessing the peak time of spurt in corona positive cases and going by the trends it is expected to slow down soon.During a telephonic media interaction, Dr Rajan Choudhry, general manager, medical services, Tata Steel made the above observation. He said that it is his personal viewpoint that the situation will get under control in the next 10 days.
� It is my personal observation that the continuous rise in the number of people testing positive for coronavirus is expected to stabilise any time soon. I am hopeful that things will get normal in the next few days. I am keeping my fingers crossed,� said Dr Choudhry.
He said that even cities like New York, New Delhi and Mumbai witnessed peaks in cases and things have now started getting normal. Similarly, we expect that the rise in cases will slow down in the next few days.
He went on to inform that the recovery of COVID-19 patients at one of the largest hospitals in Jharkhand, Tata Main Hospital ( TMH) has improved from 72.4 per cent last week to 75 per cent this week. Till August 15 the recovery rate was 66.1 and this has improved in the past fortnight. The hospital so far has seen about 2265 corona positive cases out of which 1710 patients have recovered. Total deaths have been 169.
Dr Rajan Choudhry said that the hospital is providing the best services to the people of Jharkhand. However, they too can cater to patients to a certain amount. There are 450 COVID beds in the hospital and its occupancy is 95 per cent.
The hospital has so far conducted 23566 RT-PCR tests while 3845 started Antigen Tests have been conducted in order to detect patients at an early stage so that they can be cured.
Answering queries of media persons, Dr Choudhry said TMH�s own 300 worriers have fallen victim to corona virus and some of them have been quarantined and some are being treated.
The prime health hub of Jamshedpur city manages a total 1027 beds for COVID-19 management. It is continuing with its emergency services besides catering to COVID patients.
