RIMS Neurosurgery Department’s Extension Ward inaugurated by Health Minister

Ranchi, Jan 24: Health Minister Banna Gupta, along with Kanke MLA Samri Lal, Principal Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh, and RIMS Director Dr. RK Gupta, inaugurated a new extension ward with 40 beds in the Old Emergency section of the Neurosurgery Department at RIMS. The inauguration ceremony took place at the RIMS Trauma Center auditorium.

During the ceremony held at the RIMS Trauma Center auditorium, Health Minister Banna Gupta announced that an intensive care package of Rs 8 crore would be distributed by January 31 to doctors and all medical staff at RIMS who have played a crucial role in operations and medical treatments conducted under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.

The newly inaugurated extension ward is equipped with facilities such as a Minor OT (Operation Theater), dressing room, and HDU (High Dependency Unit). The ward aims to provide relief to serious neuro-related patients who, until now, had to undergo treatment on the floor due to a lack of beds. The facility will have doctors and nurses stationed to cater to the treatment of neuro-related ailments.

Health Minister Banna Gupta acknowledged the high number of neuro-related patients in the state and beyond, ranging from head injuries to spinal injuries. With the addition of 40 beds in the Neurosurgery Department, Gupta emphasized the need for further expansion to meet the growing demand for healthcare services.

Speaking at the event, Principal Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh expressed the necessity of expanding every department at RIMS, considering the high influx of patients. He assured that the concerns and problems faced by RIMS doctors would be addressed. Additionally, discussions were held on ways to enhance government hospitals in the state, taking inspiration from the successful models in Gujarat and Kerala.

MLA Samri Lal commended the work of RIMS Director and Dr. CB Sahay, appreciating Health Minister Banna Gupta’s efforts. RIMS Director Dr. RK Gupta expressed satisfaction with the completion of the extension ward, highlighting the positive impact it would have on patient care, eliminating the need for floor treatments. Dr. Gupta also outlined the significant accomplishments during his tenure.
