Rich tributes paid to Tagore on his birth anniversary

Jamshedpur : Rich tributes were paid to ‘Gurudev’ Rabindranath Tagore on his 156th birth anniversary on Tuesday.

A ‘Prabhat Pheri’, was taken out from Rabindra Bhavan. Students, staff and the managing committee of Tagore Society participated to celebrate the birth anniversary of the genius.

More than a 1000 people took part in the Prabhat Pheri .The procession was followed by offering floral tributes to the nobel laureate at the Rabindra Bhavan. School students and students of Tagore School of Arts also participated in the morning celebrations. A cultural programme was also presented by the students of Tagore Academy. A fine arts and craft exhibition was also inaugurated.

The Tagore Society, Jamshedpur has lined up cultural extravaganza that started today. �As Tagore Society, it is our responsibility to propagate the works and vast cultural heritage of the Nobel laureate. This would be a permanent address where visitors can learn more about Tagore,� said Ashis Chowdhury, secretary of Tagore Society.

The Tagore Society, Jamshedpur is organising a three-day cultural extravaganza that starts today. Apart from the cultural programme that was presented in the morning at the Rabindra Bhavan auditorium, the Society has also lined up cultural programme in the evening and for the next two days.

The second half of the day was performances by various art and cultural centres run by The Tagore Society in the city. Students of Tagore Society performed a dance drama.

It may be mentioned that Tagore Society, a city based leading educational and cultural organisation, has also been organising book fair from more than two decades. It periodically organises exhibitions and dance competitions in the city.
