Ranchi: To combat Naxalism, the Union Home Ministry has directed the Jharkhand Police to expedite the elimination of remaining CPI Maoist cadres and extremist groups in the state. The Ministry has emphasized the need for a comprehensive strategy, including the identification of individuals providing logistical support to Naxalites and the formation of a dedicated unit for the investigation of Naxal-related cases.
A senior official stated, “The police must prioritize the verification of individuals who facilitate the operations of Naxalites and ensure meticulous research in cases linked to extremist activities. Effective planning at the district level is critical to achieve this goal.”
To weaken the influence of Naxal groups, the Ministry has stressed the importance of community engagement through awareness programs. Local populations in Naxal-affected areas are being encouraged to stay away from extremist elements.
The Ministry has sought a detailed report from the Police Headquarters Special Branch regarding district-level action plans by October 7, 2024. These plans will outline steps to dismantle Naxal operations and eliminate their strongholds.
A senior Jharkhand Police officer remarked, “This systematic approach will ensure that no stone is left unturned in neutralizing Naxal threats. We are committed to safeguarding the state and restoring normalcy in affected areas.”
This renewed focus on eliminating Naxals comes as the state intensifies its efforts to tackle extremism, ensuring security and development for its residents.
