1,135 athletes participate in Great Jharkhand Run

4th State-Level Masters Athletics Championship held in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The first Great Jharkhand Run and the fourth state-level Masters Athletics Championship were successfully organized on Sunday at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur. The event was a joint initiative by the Masters Athletics Association of Jharkhand and Masters Athletics Association of East Singhbhum.

The Great Jharkhand Run saw 1,135 participants from 17 Jharkhand districts competing across ten age groups. The event saw active participation from ages ranging between 12 and 60 years and above.

The event began with a 3 km race at 5:30 am for boys and girls aged 12 to 18 years and men aged 30 to 39 years, flagged off by Vijay Singh, President of the Masters Athletics Association of Jharkhand.

The second 3 km race involved youth aged 18 to 30 and men aged 40 to 49. Meanwhile, men aged 50 to 59 and 60 years and older participated in a 2 km race. The girls aged 12 to 18 years and women aged 30 to 39 also ran a 2 km race, while the final 2 km race featured women aged 18 to 30 years and women 40 years and older.

The closing ceremony saw the presence of Mahendra Nath, Territory Manager (Engineering Retail) of BPCL Ranchi, and special guests including Tata Motors Workers Union President Gurmeet Singh Tote, General Secretary RK Singh, and social worker Rajkumar Singh. Additionally, West Bengal Masters Athletics Association Secretary Sapan Das joined the event as a special guest.

The winners in all 10 competition categories were honored with cash prizes, gold medals, silver medals, bronze medals, and merit certificates during the award ceremony.

The event’s success was attributed to the tireless efforts of key contributors and organizers such as Diparshi Pandey, Guru Sharan Singh, Ranjit Singh, Shravan Kumar, Satpal Saini, and several others. Their combined efforts facilitated a seamless and well-executed event.

The Great Jharkhand Run was a key attraction of the day, with participants ranging in age from 12 to 88 completing the challenges enthusiastically. Dr. Vijay Mohan Singh extended significant cooperation for the event’s success.
