Returning Officer appeals for cooperation ahead of D-day in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Dec 21: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Returning Officer Ravi Shankar Shukla convened a meeting of all candidates and their representatives at the Jamshedpur Collectorate on Saturday. He informed the participants about preparations made by district administration for counting of votes on 23rd December. He said a three-layered security arrangement is in place at Jamshedpur Cooperative College, which houses the strong room.

Shukla said the counting of votes for the recently concluded Jharkhand Assembly elections would begin at 8 am. The counting agents of all candidates would be allowed entry till 7 am. One counting agent would be allowed at every counting table in each Assembly constituency. At the table of returning officer too, only one counting agent will be allowed to be present. One counting agent will be allowed at ETPBS Scanning table, he said.

Shukla said the counting agents will not be allowed to carry mobile phones and food to the counting venue. Only candidates can take phone up to media centre where they will have to deposit the same before entering the counting hall, he said.
Shukla appealed to all candidates and their representatives to cooperate with the district administration to ensure peaceful conclusion of counting process. He said counting of votes may take some more time than expected. After counting, five VVPATs will be randomly selected from all Assembly constituencies for matching of votes.

The meeting was attended by Jyotsna Singh, Amar Kumar, Nand Kishore Lal, Naveen Kumar, Chandan Kumar, Sourav Kumar Sinha and Kanu Ram Nag.
