Restaurant on Wheels among three new facilities coming up at Tatanagar Railway Station

Jamshedpur, July 24: Several new facilities are set to be introduced at Tatanagar railway station, benefiting passengers. The construction of a restaurant on wheels near Tatanagar’s second entry gate, a third foot over bridge to ease the movement between platforms, and installation of escalator is expected to be complete by the end of September.

Restaurant on Wheels is coming up outside second entry gate.  The construction work of kitchen has begun.

Tatanagar railway station witnesses the daily commute of around 60,000 passengers, with 45 pairs of passenger trains passing through its premises. To ensure the timely completion of these projects and give the station a polished look, 35 laborers and artisans are working diligently day and night.

Currently, the installation work for the third and second escalators on platform number one is in progress, located at the corner of the foot overbridge connecting platform 1 to the second entry gate towards Chakradharpur end. These escalators aim to provide easier access to elderly and sick individuals, enhancing their travel experience. The completion of this work is anticipated in the first week of September.

Additionally, escalators will be installed at the outer end of platform number four and the third foot over bridge. The third foot over bridge is being constructed towards Kharagpur end to address the issue of overcrowding at the station’s exit gate during the sudden arrival of multiple trains. This foot over bridge will connect platforms 4-5 to platforms 2-3 and 1, providing a direct exit towards Chaibasa bus stand and reducing the need for passengers to pass through the main gate of the station.

Station Director, Raghuvansh Kumar, expressed excitement about the new services that will soon be available to passengers at Tatanagar railway station. “The ongoing swift progress of these projects is expected to enhance the overall travel experience for passengers, making it easier for them to catch trains and comfortably stay at the station,” said Station Director.
