Jamshedpur, Sept. 22: East Singhbhum district public relation office has been running awareness campaigns across the district to observe October 2 as ‘No Polythene Day’ in a big scale.
Several social organizations and environmental activists are supporting the campaign. To support the campaign and create awareness among the residents a signature campaign was launched jointly by Civil defence, Jeevan Dayini Trust and Laxminagar Basti Vikas Samiti.
Civil defence led by warden Shakil Anwar along with several members launched signature campaign at Mango Bazar, Old Purulia Road and Dimna Road were more the 500 residents signed and pledged to support the anti-polythene campaign.
On the other hand, members of Jeevan Dayini Trust visited Sakchi court premises and informed the advocates about the ‘No Polythene campaign’ on October 2 and asked for the support. More than 200 advocates signed and pledged their support for the campaign.
More than 300 residents signed and supported the drive at Nildih area of Telco. General secretary Narendra Kumar Sharma along with treasurer Ramdular of Laxminagar Basti Vikas Samiti launched the campaign were more than 100 residents of Laxminagar area signed the campaign. A signature campaign will also be launched at Jamshedpur Women’s College in Bistupur on Friday, September 23.
