Ranchi: State BJP continued to face protests from within on the second consecutive day since the party issued its first list of candidates for the Assembly elections in the state. Many party leaders and activists quit the party following the announcement of candidate list as they did not get party ticket.

BJP’s joining hands with AJSU was another major reason for protesting party decisions by the activists.

A large number of party workers from Gomiya and Barkagaon expressed resentment over the alliance with AJSU. They said the BJP was capable of winning the elections on its own.

They said they was no justification in joining the alliance with AJSU it stood nowhere as compared to the BJP.

Raising slogans like Gathbandhan Todo, bhajpa bachao (break the alliance, save the BJP), the party workers also gheraoed BJP national vice president Raghuvar Das who was just coming out of the party office today. The protestors gheraoed Das’s vehicle.

Police had to be called in to take Das out of the situation.

Leading efforts to resolve the problem, party’s state in-charge Trivendra Singh Rawat assured to provide better roles to the party workers in future. He said the party workers should give up the agitation as it would tarnish party’s image just ahead of the polls.

Members of Vaishya Morcha protested against the candidature of Seema Sharma from Hatia seat. They said the party will have to bear the consequences of its erroneous decisions. Former Speaker CP Singh too, tried to pacify the agitating party workers without much success.
