Ranchi, July 12: In a major shift under the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP), Intermediate (11th and 12th) classes will no longer be conducted in colleges across Jharkhand. Acting on directives from Governor’s Secretariat, a formal order has been issued stating that no new admissions will be allowed for Intermediate courses in any college.
According to the letter issued by Principal Secretary to the Governor, Nitin Madan Kulkarni, this move was in strict compliance with the NEP, which mandated that 11th and 12th education must be confined to the school level only. Colleges that violated this order and continued to operate Intermediate classes would face disciplinary action against the concerned Principal.
However, in a relief to current students, it had been clarified that those who had already taken admission and completed Class 11 in any college would be allowed to complete Class 12 in the same institution. This amendment came after concerns were raised regarding the academic future of existing students.
MLA Saryu Roy welcomed this amendment, terming it a relief for Class 12 students. He reiterated that while no fresh admissions would be made, existing students would not be forced to shift institutions mid-way through their studies.
