Jamshedpur, May 26: A 17 year-old girl, identified as Soni Kumari, reportedly committed suicide by hanging self to death in her house at Zone No 2B under Birsanagar police station area on Thursday.
Sources said the victim took the extreme step after being rebuked by her father Chhabila, a carpenter by profession. Her father scolded her for talking to a youth of their neighbourhood yesterday night.
Around 9 am today, Soni went to the room on the roof of her house and locked herself inside. Her family members ran after her and asked her to open the door. Later, when the family members looked inside by removing a brick in the wall, they found the girl hanging from the ceiling. Soon, police was informed about the incident. Soni was taken to Mercy Hospital where she died during treatment, police said.
