CII Jharkhand Tribal Entrepreneurship summit focuses on inclusive growth
Jamshedpur, Jan 10: The CII Jharkhand Tribal Entrepreneurship Summit, themed “Heritage: Horizons: Tribal Innovators Forum,” held at Audrey House, Ranchi on January 10, brought together a diverse group of stakeholders to celebrate the economic and cultural contributions of tribal communities while fostering entrepreneurial growth.
The summit showcased the creativity and resilience of young tribal innovators and women entrepreneurs. Ranjot Singh, Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Managing Director, Emdet Jamshedpur Pvt Ltd, emphasized that real progress requires the inclusion of all societal sectors, with tribals playing a pivotal role in driving change. He highlighted the shift from traditional skills to digital platforms, with tribals now contributing to the government’s chem portal, enabling local products to reach both national and global markets. Singh urged tribal entrepreneurs to adopt a progressive mindset and collaborate with industries and the government to tap into emerging opportunities.

Captain Amitabh, Convenor, CII Jharkhand CSR, Skill Development & Affirmative Action Panel & Head – Skill Development, Tata Steel Foundation, emphasized the need for breaking stereotypes and adopting a progressive mindset to harness immense opportunities. He outlined three key focus areas: integrity, inclusive growth, and sustainable development, stressing the importance of integrating ideas from institutions, entrepreneurs, and academicians for holistic development.
Basant Tirkey, National General Secretary, Tribal Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, discussed the necessity of developing micro-industries and reforms in the public procurement policy to better support tribal entrepreneurs. He advocated for the establishment of a Tribal Entrepreneurship Board to promote and nurture tribal entrepreneurship further.

Sourov Roy, Chairman, CII Eastern Region CSR, Skill Development & Affirmative Action Panel & Chief CSR, Tata Steel Ltd, highlighted the importance of private investments and government collaboration to effectively utilize available resources. He emphasized addressing economic and social challenges through comprehensive strategies to foster tribal entrepreneurship.
Jitendra Kumar Singh, IAS, Secretary, Department of Industries, Government of Jharkhand, praised CII’s initiative in successfully conducting six editions of the Tribal Entrepreneurship Summit. He emphasized that social and economic structural changes take time, with the government working on policies for small and cottage industries and a procurement policy aimed at uplifting weaker sections of society.
Ritu Raj Sinha, Vice Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Managing Director, Tata Steel UISL, lauded CII’s efforts and encouraged participants to leverage the valuable insights from the summit. He emphasized the potential for tribal entrepreneurs to thrive in sectors like medicine, art, and sustainability, advocating for continuous efforts to build a solid foundation for their growth.
The summit brought together around 110 participants, highlighting the importance of inclusive economic development and the need for greater government support to help tribal entrepreneurs succeed. By equipping participants with innovative business practices and resources, the summit empowered tribal communities to confidently navigate evolving economic landscapes.
