Jamshedpur, May 30: To inculcate a healthy spirit of competitiveness, Urban Services department, Tata Steel organized Inter Centre Volleyball Tournament from 27th to 29th May 2015 at RD Bhatta Community Centre.
The tournament served as a platform for 12 teams from twelve community centres namely Sonari, Dhatkidih, R.D.Bhatta, Kasidih, Bhalubasa, Sitaramdera, Baridih, Tuiladungri, Namda, Adityapur, Babgera & Kitadih competing and showcasing their potential. Around 150 players were the part of this tournament, which helped the budding players to prepare for performance at state and national level competition.
In the concluding day of the tournament, the final match was played between the R. D. Bhatta v/s Bhalubasa Community Centre by defeating Namda Community Centre & Dhatkidih Community Centre respectively. R. D. Bhatta won the tournament by defeating team from Bhalubasa Community Centre.
Mr. J. Singh, professor of XLRI, Jamshedpur & former Tata Steel Chair Professor, graced the closing ceremony as a Chief Guest. Currently he is the chairman of International Relations. During the closing ceremony of the tournament he gave away prizes to the winner & Runner-up teams and also motivated the players to continue the same performance throughout their future.
About 300 people gathered at the venue. Most of them were spectators of the cheering teams including the officials G. M. Sharan, Head Special Projects, R. S. Pandey, Sr.Manager Urban Services, Basant Singh, Manager Urban Services, D. K. Dubey, Area Officer R.D.Bhatta Centre, and all staff of the community centre.
