Jamshedpur, Jan. 14: Jamshedpur Management Association (JMA) organized an interactive session with Ravi Arora, Vice-President, Tata Sons and author of the book �Making Innovations Happen,� at the Center for Excellence here on January 13.
Ravi Arora is responsible for the Innovation program at the Tata Group worldwide, besides being a key member of the Tata Group Innovation Forum (TGIF) .
On this occasion, the book �Making Innovations Happen� was formally released in Jamshedpur by JMA executive committee members comprising Neeraj Kant, MD, ISWP, Sanjay Sabherwal, MD, Metaldyne Industries Limited, Ramesh Warke, Vice-President Jojobera Steel Plant, Lafarge, Vishal Badshah, Head- Auto Manufacturing, Tata Motors, and Rabindra Kumar, Head, Procurement, Tata Steel.
In his welcome address, Neeraj Kant appreciated the work of Ravi Arora and emphasized on the need to build a culture of innovation in all organizations. He opined how for sustenance of an organization, employees need to keep an eye open for unique product and services. He said, �Innovation should not be seen as only R&D department activity, but should get into DNA of organization.�
Kant also shared the good work which is being done by JMA to promote philosophy of effective management by organizing different events/ seminars and workshops.
Addressing the gathering, Ravi Arora shared key messages and insights of the book with focus on promoting innovation in an organization. He said, �The Journey from idea to innovation is fraught with risks and uncertainty.
It requires a great deal of courage and perseverance from the teams that work on innovative ideas, as well as from senior management, to embark on innovations without knowing whether they will be successful.� Arora also shared about a new method known as the Innovation Foresight program.
The program is designed to drive innovations in an organization ensuring that the initiatives enjoy every stakeholder�s active engagement. Most importantly, it strives to ensure that an organization does not lose sight of innovation opportunities, whether big or small.
�Making Innovations Happen� is an insider�s guide to building a culture of innovation. The book also suggests creative yet pragmatic ways to make the innovation plan and its execution measurable, flexible and nimble.
In addition, the book seeks to unravel cultural nuances that can either significantly drive or impede inventiveness. It proposes several tips for the organizational practitioners to benefit from, and aims to enhance the innovation quotient from ideation to execution.
Managers, CEOs and board members of modern day organizations can draw useful insights from the many narratives the book provides.
Ravi Arora expressed his happiness on the way JMA is organizing such events to promote new management techniques for managers of organizations in and around Jamshedpur.

Around 70 participants comprising members of JMA, representatives of XLRI, CII-Yi and IIMM attended the program.
