Ratan Tata’s portrait to smile amidst flowers in Jamshedpur on Founder’s Day

Jamshedpur, Feb 27: As part of the 187th birth anniversary celebrations of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, a special portrait of Ratan Tata will be created opposite the JN Tata statue in Jubilee Park on March 3, in honour of former Tata Sons Chairman, who passed away on October 9, 2024.

Tata Steel UISL General Manager RK Singh informed that a major floral installation of Ratan Tata is being created as a special attraction. “Last year, we had made a large Rangoli using flowers. This year, we are creating a vertical portrait measuring 18 feet by 22 feet using nearly one lakh flowers. It will be installed in the statue area and will be a major highlight. The artwork is being designed by a Jamshedpur-based artist,” he said

Meanwhile, The steel city is preparing to celebrate the 187th birth anniversary of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, founder of Tata Steel and Jamshedpur, on March 3, 2026. This year’s Founder’s Day will be observed on the theme “One Vision, One Tata Steel,” highlighting unity and integration across the organisation.

Final preparations are underway for a series of events, including city-wide illumination, public access to Jubilee Park, laser shows, homage ceremonies and exhibitions.

The illumination at Jubilee Park will be inaugurated on March 2 at 6:30 pm by Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran. The park will remain open for public viewing from March 3 to March 6, except March 4, between 5 pm and 11 pm.

Founder’s Day celebrations will be held at the Tata Steel Jamshedpur Works on March 3, with the presence of Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata and other senior leaders of the Tata Group.

Pedestrian entry from 5 pm to 10 pm will be allowed through Sakchi Gate, CFE Gate and Nicco Jubilee Park Gate, while exits will be through Sakchi Gate, CFE Gate and Parsi Colony Gate. Vehicular entry between 10 pm and 11 pm will follow a designated route covering CFE Gate, Sakchi Gate, Nicco Jubilee Park Gate, Parsi Colony Gate and the JN Tata Statue area before returning to CFE Gate. A laser show will be held daily from March 3 to 6, except March 4, at 7 pm, 7:45 pm and 8:30 pm.
