Jamshedpur: The menace of over-speeding continues to plague the city, with multiple road accidents occurring in the past two days. The latest incident took place on Wednesday when four girl students of Plus Two Adivasi School, Sitaramdera, were injured after being hit by a speeding vehicle. The accident led to panic and chaos at the scene, with bystanders rushing to help. The injured students were quickly transported to MGM Hospital for treatment.

On Thursday afternoon, another accident was reported near Bagh-e-Jamshedpur in Bistupur, where a speeding car collided with a bike. The bike rider sustained serious injuries and the accident caused a traffic jam, adding to commuters’ woes.

Residents have strongly criticized the police inaction regarding reckless driving. While helmet checks are frequently conducted, speeding violations remain largely ignored. Manoj Kumar from Baridih lamented that due to police negligence, daily accidents are claiming innocent lives.

Hemant Thakur from Sakchi has urged authorities to strictly enforce speed limits in the city, impose heavy fines on violators and increase police patrols. Additionally, he stressed the need for public awareness campaigns on traffic safety to curb such incidents.
