Jamshedpur, June 29: A delegation of BJP workers led by Preeti Sinha met the Additional Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum on Saturday and demanded action against anti-social elements who threatened the women of Dhatkidih village with rape and other atrocities.
The BJP leader said several anti-social elements had barged into Dhatkidih village and vandalized a temple. The culprits also threatened to rape the village women, she said.
In a petition addressed to Chief Minister Raghubar Das and handed to the ADC, the BJP leaders said certain anti-social elements were trying to give political and communal hue to the incident of killing of one Tabrez Ansari by the villages. They said Ansari was a thief and he was caught for his act and not because of his religious identity.
The BJP leaders demanded that the district administration should ensure that no innocent Hindu is punished in the name of doing justice to minorities. They said a fair probe should be carried out into the incident to make everything crystal clear and dispel all rumours about Ansaris lynching.
Sinha alleged that police had arrested 11 innocent persons in connection with Ansaris death.
