Ranji Trophy: Utkarsh Singh five-for helps Jharkhand bowl out Chhattisgarh for 230 on day 1 in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Jan 23: The Ranji Trophy Elite Group D clash between Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand began at the Keenan Stadium on Thursday, with Chhattisgarh being bowled out for 230 runs in their first innings. Jharkhand ended Day 1 at 11/0 after six overs, trailing by 219 runs.

For Chhattisgarh, Anuj Tiwary was the standout performer, scoring a resilient 99 off 225 balls, supported by Ashutosh Singh (43) and Sanjeet Desai (35). The rest of the batting order struggled as Jharkhand’s bowlers dominated. Utkarsh Singh led the attack with a stellar performance, claiming 5 wickets for 50 runs in 19.3 overs. Aditya Singh contributed with 2 wickets, while Ashish Kumar, Manishi, and Anukul Roy chipped in with one wicket each.

In response, Jharkhand’s openers Kumar Suraj (4*) and Sharandeep Singh (7*) remained unbeaten at stumps. The match will resume on January 24, with Jharkhand looking to capitalize on their strong bowling display.
