Panicky passengers create ruckus at Delhi airport
Jamshedpur, June 16: Air India Express flight IX 1113 from Delhi to Ranchi that took off at 4:25 pm allegedly developed some technical snags midway following which it had to divert back to Delhi.
On arrival at Delhi airport, passengers created a ruckus and demanded a clear explanation on the severity of technical issues with the plane that compelled the pilot to return to the national capital.
However, after a while, the Air India staffs returned to the protesting passengers stuck at airport assuring them that the issues have been resolved and the flight was ready to fly to Ranchi.

However, majority passengers declined to fly in that flight initially. After a prolonged discussion, the flight took off for Ranchi around 7.42 pm with all passengers. By the time of filing of this report, the flight was on air and had not reached its destination.
Gyaan Chandra Jaiswal, one of the several passengers flying with his entire family by the flight expressed his dismay and concern over the deteriorating condition of Air India flights. “It was feeling mixed with nervousness and fear as the flight took off for the second time from Delhi airport after the technical snag details of which were not shared with us,” he said, adding, since they didn’t have any other option, they got convinced by the assurance of the airline staff.
However, he said, with Ratan Tata no more amidst us, the Tata brand has taken a severe hit.
Several passengers headed for Ranchi and Jamshedpur by the flight shared videos with The Avenue Mail on their harrowing experience.
Meanwhile, Air India flight AI315, operating from Hong Kong to Delhi, returned to Hong Kong shortly after take-off due to a suspected technical issue on June 16, 2025.
This event follows a tragic accident involving another Air India Dreamliner. On Thursday, a London-bound Air India flight from Ahmedabad (AMD) crashed shortly after departure, striking the doctors’ hostel at BJ Medical College.
Of the 242 people onboard—230 passengers and 12 crew—241 lost their lives.
