Ramgarh, August 31: Firoz Ahmad, accused of molesting his minor daughter, was found guilty under Sections 4/18, 10 and 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and sentenced to 10 years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) an a fine of Rs 80,000. The verdict was passed in the court of ADJ-1 Seshnath Singh. The incident relates to West Bokaro OP area in Ramgarh district.
The court pronounced a verdict of 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 20,000 under Section 4/18 of the POCSO Act; seven years RI and a fine of Rs 20,000 under Section 10 of the POCSO Act; three year sentence and fine of Rs 20,000 US 12 of the POCSO Act. The sentences will run concurrently and the fined amount will go in favour of the victim. Failure to pay the penalty will attract extended jail term.
During the trial spanning over a year, 7 witnesses testified in court among them being the minor complainant, her mother and her aunt. IO Rajesh Kumar Roy, Dr Nishat Ahmad, the minor’s School Headmaster and a magistrate testified on behalf of the victim.
The incident, as recorded, was of May 15, 2022, when the accused attempted to molest his 13-year-old daughter who was asleep at home. His daughter and her mother (the accused’s wife) resisted the attempt. On May 16, the victim herself went to the police station and lodged a complaint against her father, accusing him of engaging in non-consensual physical relations. Following the complaint, an FIR was filed in West Bokaro police station. The trial in this case continued for a year.
