Ramdas Soren and Deepak Birua likely to rejoin Jharkhand cabinet

Jamshedpur: Amid preparations for the formation of the new Soren cabinet, intense discussions are underway regarding the ministers from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) quota. There is a strong expectation that the ministers from the previous government who have been re-elected will retain their positions in the new cabinet. Among the prominent names being considered are Chaibasa MLA Deepak Birua, Ghatsila MLA Ramdas Soren, and Madhupur MLA Hafizul Hasan, all of whom are likely to be included in the cabinet.

Along with these experienced leaders, the party is also exploring the possibility of inducting new faces into the cabinet. Notable among them are Gumla MLA Bhushan Tirkey, Rajmahal’s elected MLA MT Raja, and Ichagarh MLA Savita Mahato, who is also in the running. Savita Mahato, the wife of late Deputy Chief Minister Sudhir Mahato, holds significance within the party, especially considering her potential to garner Kurmi votes. This could make her a strong candidate for a ministerial position. However, according to sources within the JMM, the final decision will rest with the top leadership, and the exact lineup of ministers is yet to be finalized. The party will carefully consider social and regional factors when making the decision, with an announcement expected soon.

In addition to discussions regarding the ministers, there are ongoing talks about the appointment of the new Speaker of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. Currently, Nala MLA Rabindranath Soren is under consideration for the role, although there is speculation that Stephen Marandi could be given this significant responsibility. If Marandi is appointed as Speaker, it is expected that Rabindranath Soren will be included in the cabinet, with other cabinet positions also being strategically allocated. The decision on both the cabinet members and the Speaker is crucial as the JMM moves forward in consolidating its leadership following the recent election results.
