Jamshedpur, Oct 2: Durga Puja is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Jharkhand, particularly in the Kolhan region. Elaborate pandals are erected in areas like Adityapur and Jamshedpur, showcasing the community’s artistic inclinations besides devotion and revelries. However, this year, rain is expected to disrupt the festivities.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rainfall during Durga Puja. According to meteorologist Abhishek Anand, adverse weather conditions are anticipated throughout Navratri, with light to moderate rain expected across the state and heavy rain possible in certain areas. Thunder and lightning are also likely to occur between October 2 and 10.
Rain and thunderstorms are forecasted for October 2 and 3 in districts including Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Koderma, Hazaribagh, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Ranchi, Simdega, Khunti, Bokaro, Giridih, Deoghar, Dumka, Godda, Sahibganj, Pakur, Jamtara, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan.
In addition, the Meteorological Department has warned of potential rain and thunderstorms in Jamshedpur, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan from October 5 to 7. Many districts are expected to remain cloudy until October 10, with intermittent rain likely.
This weather disruption is attributed to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, as per the Meteorological Department’s earlier alerts. Although rainfall may be less than expected, overcast skies will persist.
