Jamshedpur: Railway department is going to curtail its manpower in the South Eastern zone in the coming days, sources have revealed. All over the country, the Railway is about to reduce its manpower by a margin of over 20,000.
Sources said the post surrender scheme was formulated on 28th October 2016. The recent order reached the South Eastern Railway zonal office on 24th May 2017. Railway employees of non-technical category are likely to face the worst consequences of the scheme. The retrenchment is reportedly going to take place not only in Tatanagar and Chakradharpur, but also in Ranchi, Adra and Kharagpur divisions, sources said.
Sources further revealed that the promotion of 1500 technicians of South Eastern railway zone including those from Tatanagar and Bandamunda Loco Shed has been stopped. The reason behind the order is that the promotion of hundreds of railway employees was done inappropriately from 1998 to 2013. The cadre reorganization file of the year 2017 in Garden Reach has exposed this.
The news about retrenchment has caused panic among the railway employees of South Eastern Railway zone. The general secretary of South Eastern Zone Mens Congress SR Mishra has sent a letter to the Railway Board and Garden Reach authorities requesting the officials concerned to reconsider the decision to remove 800 employees this year.
