Jamshedpur, Jan 9: Indian Railway has made it compulsory for all pantry cars in trains to have swipe machines. Railway Board Chairman VK Yadav has issued an order in this regard. The step has been taken with the view to stop overcharging by pantry card officials. Pantry cars are run by IRCTC. Railway commercial department officials will soon be inspecting swipe machines and impose fine in case they are not found in place, sources said.
Sources said the prices of various food items have not been increased by the Railways since 2012. Pantry car managers are often accused of charging passengers excessively. With the new order of Chakradharpur divisional commercial department, passengers will get a big relief from overcharging by pantry car officials.
