Manesar: Railway Children India (RCI) wrapped up its three-day annual conference this week with a major milestone: the team successfully protected 2,900 vulnerable children during the 2025–26 period.
From March 13 to 15, team members from across the country gathered to celebrate these life-changing interventions, many of which took place at high-risk transport hubs. The event served as both a victory lap and a strategic launchpad for the year ahead.
Turning Challenges into Solutions
Throughout the conference, program teams presented detailed reports on their operational progress and measurable impact. Rather than just sharing successes, staff engaged in candid discussions about:
-
Field Realities: Addressing the complexities of high-risk environments.
-
Innovation: Highlighting creative solutions used to safeguard children’s rights.
-
Strategic Mapping: Developing forward-looking plans to expand their reach.
Leadership Voices
Chairman Harbhajan Singh lauded the staff’s unwavering dedication, calling the 2,900 rescues a “collective victory” for the entire organization. He urged the team to maintain this momentum to drive systemic change.
CEO Naveen Sellaraju Sukumar reinforced the need for a holistic approach to safety. He emphasized that RCI must nurture a “sensitive work culture,” noting that a supportive internal ecosystem is the foundation for successful field interventions.
“The conference went beyond mere evaluation; it served as a catalyst to reinforce our shared vision.” — Afsar Ahmed Khan, Senior Program Manager.
Strengthening the Team
The event balanced rigorous reviews with personal well-being. To prevent burnout and strengthen bonds, the organization hosted:
-
Team-building exercises to improve collaboration.
-
Art therapy workshops for creative expression.
-
Recreational sessions designed for stress relief.
As the conference concluded, the team left Manesar with fresh insights and a renewed commitment to enhancing child protection efforts across India.
