Jamshedpur : Senior BJP leader Raghuwar Das recently met Tata Steel managing director T V Narendran over issues concerning the Steel City.
Following Jharkhand High Court judgment ordering Tata Steel and its wholly owned subsidiary, Jusco, to give water and power connections to 106 slums � 86 under Schedule V of Tata lease, the BJP leader demanded that the company must start providing civic amenities.
Das said that during the meeting Tata Steel has assured of initiating exercise for providing civic amenities by February 2014.
�The discussions with the MD were fruitful and he has assured of major initiatives to ease traffic movement in the city. He said thatTata Steel requires from go ahead from government for flyovers and things will improve in days to come ,� said Jamshedpur East legislator Raghuwar Das during a press meet on Saturday.
�With the growth plant of 10mtpa Tata Steel needs to take steps for the smooth movement of heavy vehicles in this connection we had a thorough discussion on the subject and the MD came forward with this information,� said Raghuwar Das.
He said that if the company fails to provide water and power connections to 106 slums � 86 under Schedule V of Tata lease the people will start6 agiation from March 2014.
Das played a key role for fighting for the cause of slum dwellers. The high court had passed the order based on a PIL filed by Chandrashekhar Mishra, president of Bustee Vikas Samiti � an umbrella organisation of 86 slums � on May 18 this year.
Patron of Bustee Vikas Samiti Das, who played that the decision is victory of the people and we will make sure that the corporate house follows the decision.
The Bustee Vikas Samity, an organisation fighting for the cause of the slum dwellers, which has been demanding ownership rights of the slums, has welcomed the decision.
