Raghubar recommends Presidentís medal for Ranchi SSP

Ranchi, Aug 19: The Jharkhand government on Wednesday decided to recommend the name of Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar, who was injured in a gun battle with Maoist rebels on the outskirts of Ranchi, for the President’s medal.

“Chief Minister Raghubar Das has given his consent to recommend name of injured Ranchi SSP for the President’s medal,” an official told. CM Raghubar Das expressly consented for it. The State Government has recommended SSP Ranchi, Prabhat Kumar for the Presidentís Gallantry Medal and the issue is being taken up with the Home Ministry of Central Government.

The state government has also decided to confer the state gallantry award on the SSP, his driver Rumul Sawaiya and bodyguard Faizal,” the official said.†

In appreciation of display of bravery and courage the CM also ordered for an out-of-order promotion to Constable Faisal. The State Govt. has agreed to bear all medical expenditure on their treatment. The chief minister is being kept informed on the medical status and their treatment.

The Chief Minister rushed to Medica Super Specialty Hospital to meet the injured SSP & other wounded policemen in the encounter of Dulmi village to boost their morale of the entire police force. He spent considerable time with the family of the wounded policemen.

Raghubar reiterated that naxalites are a blemish on the State because they retard development and create an inimical climate hostile to development.

The CM approved that the governmentís resolve to eradicate the naxalite menace has been strengthened the blood of the martyr and the brave hearts who sacrifice their today for our better tomorrow.

On Tuesday, the Ranchi SSP was injured and his driver was killed in a gun battle with Maoists at Dulmi village on the outskirts of state capital Ranchi.†
