Hundreds of unorganized workers take out Hunkar Rally at Sakchi
Jamshedpur: Several hundred workers of the unorganized sector participated in the Hunkar Rally taken out on Saturday by the Aam Mazdoor Union in collaboration with Jharkhand Driver Union. The rally started at Aam Bagan, Sakchi, and culminated at the Jamshedpur Collectorate.
Led by the state Congress president Dr Ajoy Kumar and union leader Raghunath Pandey, a delegation of protestors met the Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar and handed him a memorandum in support of their various demands.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Ajoy alleged that a large number of unorganized workers were leading a marginalized life due to the faulty policies of the state government. In the absence of a pro-workers regime, the condition of unorganized labourers is deteriorating day by day, he said.
The former MP alleged that the state government was exploiting the workers and was mainly concerned about capitalist forces. He said the Raghubar Das government had failed to fulfill its promises on the Malikana rights (ownership) issue made to the residents of 86 bastis of Jamshedpur.
Raghunath Pandey too raised various issues pertaining to workers� welfare. He said there was an urgent need to work together for the labourers of the unorganized sector.
Among those present during the rally included Ramashraya Prasad, Shiv Lakhan Singh, Amarnath Tiwary, Abhishek Pandey, Suryakant Prakash, PN Singh, Srikant Dev, BS Kabra, E Satish Kumar, Sunil Prasad Singh, Baby Singh and Ashwini Mathur.
