Development of Odisha is my priority: Raghubar Das

Puri/Jamshedpur: Raghubar Das, the Governor-designate of Odisha and former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, arrived in Odisha on Monday in preparation for his swearing-in ceremony. He offered prayers at the 12th-century Jagannath temple in Puri.

Das, who travelled from Jamshedpur to Puri by train, received a warm welcome at the station from Puri’s collector, Samarth Verma, and superintendent of police, Kanwar Vishal Singh.

MoS for Home, TK Behera, extended a warm welcome to the governor-designate at the temple’s main entrance, ‘Singha Dwar.’

After his temple visit, Das spoke with reporters and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of Odisha. He sought the blessings of Lord Jagannath to provide him with the strength to serve the underprivileged, emphasizing that the development of the state was his top priority. Das also said that the Raj Bhavan of Odisha would remain open around the clock for the people.

In addition to his aspirations for Odisha, Das also expressed his condolences for the tragic train accident in neighboring Andhra Pradesh, which claimed the lives of 14 people.

Das, a senior BJP leader, later travelled to the state capital, Bhubaneswar. He is expected to meet with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the Raj Bhavan. Furthermore, Das will visit the Lingaraj Temple on Tuesday morning before taking the oath of office as the 26th Governor of Odisha. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to commence at 11:45 am.

The event is expected to draw numerous supporters from Jharkhand and members of Das’s family. His appointment as the new Governor of Odisha was announced by President Droupadi Murmu on October 18, and he will succeed Ganeshi Lal in this crucial role.
