Jamshedpur: Congress candidate from Jamshedpur East, Dr. Ajoy Kumar, raised serious allegations against Odisha Governor Raghubar Das during a press conference on Tuesday. He accused Raghubar Das of violating constitutional norms by influencing the ongoing election while holding the position of Governor of Odisha.
Dr. Ajoy Kumar pointed out that despite the Model Code of Conduct being in place, Raghubar Das’s presence at his Jamshedpur residence, and his meetings with BJP workers, is a clear breach of constitutional principles. He stated that such actions are a misuse of the constitutional office, and it is worrying that the Election Commission has remained a mute spectator. Dr. Kumar mentioned that he has filed a formal complaint with both the President of India and the Chief Election Commissioner.
He further emphasized that BJP’s double standards are evident, as they remain silent on the issue. Dr. Kumar also criticized the party for promoting family-based politics, stating that the people of Jamshedpur have now recognized the BJP’s hypocrisy.
Dr. Kumar expressed deep concern over the state of democracy, questioning how it can survive when constitutional institutions remain passive in the face of such violations. He reiterated that protecting the Constitution now lies in the hands of the people.
